THE Premier Indian League (IPL) is a tournament that goes through the title “where talent meets opportunities”. Without a doubt, the League produced some of the greatest talents, the idea of which was not there for world cricket. The tastes of Fhelik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and a few others are big stars today because of how their careers have started with their IPL teams.
Unfortunately, there are cases where some of the players did not have the chance to play for their team despite being very talented. IPL teams are such that players must suffer from the anger of an extremely qualified talent basin and the team’s requirements.
These players are unlucky not to play a match for their team despite their choice several times at the auction table given their potential, but unfortunately, it is not enough to break the XI. 1. Kyle Mills (Kings XI Punjab in 2008; Mumbai Indians in 2009)

Kyle Mills was one of the best Pacers in the world in the late 2000s when he played for New Zealand. The right arm stimulator was able to swing the ball early in the sleeves and could be practical in the middle of the overs and the dead. Without forgetting, he could fight a little lower in order, which could help the team in balance.
The right arm stimulator was chosen for the first time in IPL auctions before the 2008 season by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). Unfortunately, due to the best players abroad in the team and restrictions to switch only four foreigners, he could not play a game. Later, Mills were chosen by the Mumbai Indians in the 2009 IPL. For the same reason, he did not also play a single match during the second season. He did not find a team later.
2. Nishant Sindhu (Chennai Super Kings in 2024 and Gujarat Titans in 2025)
Nishant Sindhu was part of the Indian team which won the World Cup under 19 in 2023. Consequently, it was chosen in the IPL auctions in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons. The star player was chosen for the first time in the auctions by CSK in 2023. He stayed with them in the 2024 season, before getting out before the eighteenth season.
Due to CSK’s policy to support many players, Sindhu has stayed in the team, learning things from other players and management staff. However, he could not play a game. In the mega auctions IPL 2025, Sindhu was chosen by the Titans of Gujarat. Unfortunately, he could not play a game and has not yet made his debut in the most lucrative T20 League in the world.
3. Pavan Deshpande (Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2018 and 2020)
Pavan Deshpande was one of the talented players at the end of the 2010s and in the 2020s in domestic cricket. Someone who could play lower in order and be practical with the balloon with the spin bowling was a commodity, not many teams could afford easily. RCB bought it for the first time in the mega auction before the 2018 IPL.
DESHPANDE did not have the chance to play for the franchise based in Bengaluru in the 2018 IPL. It was chosen again in the IPL 2020 auctions. Unfortunately, although it was very talented, the versatile Spin Bowling could not play a game. He continued to perform for Karnataka despite his chance in the RCB. He remains one of the very talented players to never play the IPL.
