Tristan’s father Chris Stubbs was a well -known name in the hockey circuit in South Africa. Former provincial player, Chris never had the chance to represent the national team. Despite this, he never discouraged his son from choosing cricket rather than hockey.

In fact, Tristan started his sports trip with hockey, but the attraction of fame and financial stability has finally become key reasons for Chris to guide him to the Gentleman game. Tristan grew up watching his father dominate with a hockey stick and naturally took sport. But over time, Chris gradually pushed him to cricket – a decision that would shape his future.
“There is no money in hockey. “I played provincial hockey, but I was not good enough to play for South Africa. One of my biggest matches was against India. They came to South Africa in the 90s, when they returned to India. Southern Transvaal was a good team in South Africa. It was a warm -up game. They played a match against Southern Transvaal.
“India crushed us 5-0,” said Chris with a big laugh.
The dream of representing his country remained dissatisfied for Chris, but he hoped that his son Tristan would go further – proudly wearing the national jersey with the country’s flag on his chest.
