Navjot Singh Sidhu names Rohit Sharma as captain of his 2025 team of the tournament

Former cricket player and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu Appointed Indian veteran Rohit Sharma as captain of his team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The announcement was made on his YouTube channel after the conclusion of the 18th edition of the IPL.

The tournament ended on June 3 at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) raised the prestigious trophy for the first time in their history.

Sidhu expressed his admiration for the leadership and the inheritance of Rohit while highlighting his five IPL titles, a T20 World Cup and a victory for the Champions Trophy. He pointed out that once Rohit had found its shape, the Mumbai Indians (Mi) looked like a completely different side. He also called Rohit and Virat Kohli as the best openers in the white ball format, highlighting their experience at the top of the order.

Rohit entered into shape with a blow of 70 points against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 23. He turned out to be vital when he struck another half-century against the Royals Rajasthan (RR) on May 1, helping the five-time champions to obtain a place in the iPL 2025 qualifiers later.

In the eliminator against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Mullanpur on May 30, the Indian legend delivered a winning performance, marking 81 points to integrate MI in qualification 2. Despite its efforts, MI failed in qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Ahmedabad on June 1.

Rohit concluded his campaign with 418 points in 15 rounds at an impressive striking rate of 149.28, proving his value as a big game player.
