The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) underwent their third consecutive home defeat, failing against the kings of Punjab (PBKS) during a meeting affected by the rain at Mr. Chinnaswamy stadium. Due to the weather interruptions, the match was reduced to 14 overs per side.
PBKS Skipper Shreyas Iyer won the draw and chose to play first, a decision that turned out to be successful for the team. From the start, RCB strikers had trouble finding momentum while PBKs quitters maintained tight lines and disciplined lengths. The whole bowling unit has effectively contributed, restoring the RCB to only 95 points in their 14 allocated offensals.
In response, PBKS strikers hunted the target comfortably, despite the RCB quises showing a certain resistance with good length deliveries. With this victory, PBKS recorded its fifth victory of the 2025 season IPL and climbed second on the points table.
In the meantime, RCB Continue their search for form after losing three steady games at home. They will seek to regroup and make a strong return in their next lighting.
Discussion points
1. RCB Patters’ did not play reasonably
RCB put the first blow in a touched rain game, the strikers had trouble finding the pace from the start. Instead of timing the ball, they chose to go hard, not having used the rhythm of the QUORS. Their aggressive approach lacked finesse, leading to rapid layoffs. Tim David was the only light point in the sleeves, marking a resilient 50 of 26 bullets, standing in the middle of the collapse.
2. RCB dominated by PBKs completely
PBK quarkers dominated the RCB range of strikers from the start. The match reduced to 14 overs per side, each launcher received a maximum of three overs, and PBKS took advantage of it. Arshdeep Singh (2/23), Marco Jansen (2/10) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/11) all played their full quota, offering crucial breakthroughs at regular intervals. Harpreet BRAR also cut with two counters, rejecting the lower order strikers.
3. Fight RCB pacers spells
With only 96 executions to defend, RCB had limited options to contain the PBKS prosecution. They turned to their experienced pacers, Bhuvnehwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, who gave everything to apply pressure on the punjab strikers. Hazlewood was particularly impressive, conceding only 14 points in its three out of three fate and claiming three crucial counters. Bhuvnehwar Kumar also played tight lines, picking up two counters. However, the 33 aggressive balls of Nehal Wadhera sealed the match for PBKS, guided them comfortably towards victory.
Who said what?
Rajat Patidar, RCB (loss captain)
Initially, he stuck and two rhythms, but we could have done much better as a striker. The partnerships are important, we have lost counters at fast intervals and it is a big lesson for us. We had to make this change due to the conditions (leaving Paddikal aside). The counter was not so bad, it was under the covers for a long time, it helped their quantities, the credit is going. No matter how the counter plays, we have to beat well and get a winner total. The bowling unit is doing pretty well, it is a big positive. The strikers played with intention, it is something pleasant. We can correct some of our mistakes in the shot unit.
Shreyas Iyer, pbks (winning captain)
The variety is the spice of life. We are able to live all kinds of games. There was no reflection. We were making instinctive movements, Marco was able to scall the rebound. The rest of the questions helped him. To be honest, I didn’t know it would play. The quisors have adapted very well. I did not see a single six strokes on the ground of a stimulator. Nehal was brilliant in his approach today. Personally, I chatted with Chahal. He has the ability to bounce back. It is probably the best IPL bowler so far. Depends on the counter.
Tim David, game player
It didn’t feel so easy. I don’t know what to say. I think the boys who strike communicated it to me. Training locations have played similar. Our coaches and management staff built the team for a reason. If I have the opportunity to fight, I will try to contribute to my team. As you try too hard, it does not stand out. Tonight was difficult. You had to manage the risks a little. I would like to have a drink after the team’s victory. We were confronted on different conditions in every home game. We did not play well at home. We have to find a model. We will have to group together quickly because we will play Punjab.
