The franchise owners of the State League are struggling to recover the investments
The T20 leagues at the state level have become precious screening grounds for IPL franchises. However, most of the franchises involved in state leagues find it difficult to recover their investments, and this financial pressure raises concerns concerning the potential fault, in particular bets and the fixing of matches.
To respond to these risks, the BCCI has introduced directives for state associations. Each league is awarded an anti-corruption agent, and strict security protocols are required for player and official areas in the match.
State leagues have limited gain potential. Without sustainable financial model, these leagues risk collapse. The owners of franchises invest in the scouting and the development of local actors, hoping to develop future stars, but they receive little or no financial return for their efforts.
