Casey Mize endured a bad luck in his first defeat this season. The right-hander of Detroit Tigers will look for a better result against the Royals of Kansas City visiting during his fourth departure on Saturday afternoon.

Mize only granted a total of points during his first two departures, then granted four points and seven strokes in 5 2/3 rounds against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. Byron Buxton and Edouard Julien struck the solo circuits, but the other two points came on a glance and an error in play.

“It was certainly not my best,” said Mize. “But I have the impression that I was only doing a few things when I got out of this slightly different outing. But still, I made mistakes that I want to come back. Overall, I have the impression that if I do what I did (Sunday) on 30 starts, the result will be better than not.”

Mize did not allow you to walk for the first time this season while the twins adopted an aggressive approach.

“They were swinging, so I threw a ton of strikes,” said Mize. “He did not have the impression that there were a lot of deep accounts, even, where I could extend the area. I just threw stuff in the area more than not, and they continued to put it into play. I gave that if they give it to me, but that will lead them to find holes from time to time.”

Detroit manager, AJ Hinch, had a similar vision of Mize’s exit.

“They dismissed it a little,” he said. “They obtained opportunistic successes and ended up making their way through the game and getting it out of there.”

Mize made 10 career starts against the Royals, displaying a file of 2-2 and 5.32 MPM.

His mound opponent, Seth Lugo, was lights against the tigers, recording a record of 3-0 with a 2.45 MPM in four career starts.

Lugo (1-2, 3.86 ERA) was the victim by the long ball of his last outing. The right-hander made the solo circuits to Jazz Chisholm Jr., Trent Grisham, Ben Rice and Austin Wells in a 4-1 defeat against New York Yankees. Three of the long balls came in the fifth round.

“I thought I had launched the ball well,” said Lugo. “I thought that I had changed the speeds quite well. I made a few mistakes and they didn’t miss them. But I had the impression of having made a fairly good adjustment after this round and I was able to keep them out of balance. You know, this is one of those games where these little errors cost us a lot of time.”

Kansas City lost five games in a row, including the first two games in the current four games series. The Tigers won a 7-3 victory on Friday with the help of a double of two points by Spencer Torkelson, who led five points to the series.

The Royals scored 10 points during their defeats.

“We come here to win every day, and this is the expectation that we have as a team,” said the second goal of Kansas City / Machael Massey. “Obviously, we are not doing this for the moment. It was a difficult road trip.”
