The former captain of India Ajinkya Rahane expressed his concerns about the Bowling Department of India before the fifth and last test against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy at the oval on Thursday. Despite the impressive performance of India to the stick throughout the series, which includes 11 centuries corresponding to their 1978-79 record against the Antilles, they follow 1-2 after four tests.The range of strikers from India has demonstrated an exceptional form throughout the series, starting with the opening test in Headingley. Despite the loss of the match, India produced five centuries, with Yashasvi Jaiswal Marquant 101, Shubman Gill contributing 147, rishabh pant marking 134 and 118 and Kl Rahul adding 137.“The team of India plays well, and the shot unit has been fantastic. What is concerned, it is the Bowling department. A couple of bowling altogether, but they do not get support,” said Rahane on their Youtube channel.
The second test in Birmingham saw the exceptional performance of Shubman Gill, where he marked 269 and 161 in consecutive sleeves, helping India level the 1-1 series.At Lord’s, Kl Rahul scored a granular 100, but India lost the match, taking behind 2-1 in the series.The fourth test in Manchester ended with a draw, keeping the hopes of India alive. Gill continued his remarkable form with 103, while Ravira will Jadeja and Washington Sundar remained undefeated on 107 and 101 respectively. Their uninterrupted partnership of 203 points proved to be crucial to save the match.

The striker conditions in England have favored drummers throughout the series. Bowling’s performance difference between the two teams is minimal, England claiming 70 counters compared to the 65 of India through the four tests.India has undergone defeats in Headingley and Lord, where England’s bowling alley was superior. Interesting how suddenly bowling is concern when Rahane is vice-captain but when Kohli was there everything was ‘world class attack’ ๐ค Maybe the concern is more about whos leading than whos bowling?
Here we go again with excuses even before match starts!! Why always talking about concerns and problems? Just go out there and play cricket. Seems like team already making reasons for possible defeat.
But why is batsman talking about bowling concerns?? Shouldnt Rahane focus on his own batting form which has been very inconsistant? He scored only one fifty in last 8 innings, maybe thats bigger concern than bowling!

The concern is valid – India’s pace attack has bowled alot of overs this series. Bumrah and Shami need proper rotation, specially่่ๅฐ the workload management. Historically at Oval, pacers who can swing the ball both ways have been most succesful.
This is good captaincy thinking from Rahane. Identifying problems before they become disasters. Better to adress concerns now and prepare properly then get surprised during match.

The Oval pitch traditionally offers somthing for seamers early on but flattens out on days 2-3. India need to take advantage of first session with new ball. Shardul Thakur could be useful all-rounder option if they go with 5 bowlers strategy instead of 6 batsmen.
Typical negative mindset! Why cant our players just believe in themself? England players never talk like this before match. They show confidence we show concern. This mentality is why we struggle overseas.

Rahane is absolutly right to be worried. Our bowling lineup looking bit thin especialy if Shami not fully fit. We need atleast 20 wickets to win test match and this english batting lineup can be dangrous on their home conditions.
