It will be the first meeting between the teams this season; St. Louis won four of the six games against Atlanta last season.
The cardinals, however, have experienced road difficulties this season, going 1-9, they have lost five of their last six games in the general classification and leaves a four-game scaper by the New York dishes.
“(The dishes) took good atmosphere and they offered great strokes,” said St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol. “That (stinking) because it’s four in a row. … I mean, we have to do better. That’s it.”
Monday’s pitch match will include a pair of right-handers-Spencer Schwellenbach of Atlanta (1-1, 2.55 ERA) against Erick Fedde (1-2, 3.43).
Schwellenbach, 24, has just released his worst start to the season. He granted six points on six strokes, including two circuits, two steps and three stick withdrawals of 4 2/3 rounds in one defeat of 6-3 in Toronto on Tuesday. It was the first in four starts that he had not managed to launch at least six rounds and the first that he had granted more than one round.
“He will have hiccups from time to time,” said Atlanta manager Brian Snitker. “He has this capacity that we have already seen in a young career to intensify when you need him. You better have a deep rotation if you want to do anything and, you know, he adds to that.”
Schwellenbach went 0-2 with an MPM of 6.55 in two starts against the cardinals in 2024.
“I feel pretty just building at the end of last year and spring training and just trying to launch as many sleeves as possible and get as many withdrawals as possible,” he said. “Simply take every game as is and build good things and learn harm.”
Fedde will make his fifth start of the season and granted a point or less in three appearances. During his last outing Tuesday against Houston, he took the defeat after working six heats and granted one point on six strokes, three walks and withdrew a top of the season. On April 9, Fedde did not give any safe in six rounds against Pittsburgh, but was removed due to four steps and a high number of land. St. Louis lost 2-1 in 13 rounds.
Fedde made 10 appearances (nine starts) against the brave but never beat them, going 0-6 with an MPM of 11.03.
The hottest St. St. Louis striker was Thomas Saggese, who went 6 for 17 with four doubles and three points produced in his last four games.
