A consulting radiotherapist, Dr. Oludare Adeyemi of the University University Hospital (UBTH), said yesterday that he had carried out a breakthrough in breast cancer when he recently treated a patient with breast cancer without mastectomy (the breast elimination process because of cancer). He described treatment as a micro-basé treatment which requires the use of radioactive seeds. In a conversation with journalists, he also advised women to opt for regular breast cancer screening in order to detect the disease early. He said that this new procedure had been carried out for the first time in Canada for about two years, now practiced in a few places in the United States, but that it was the first in Africa.
“This microfession treatment is the first in all of Africa. It came to Africa through Nigeria,” he said, adding that the procedure retains a breast, adding that the conservation of a breast is vital for cosmetic reasons. Adeyemi said that the treatment of micro-bases takes a day procedure, unlike the radiotherapy of the convention which takes four weeks to be completed. “The procedure is carried out when the micro-bases are placed in the tumor bed under ultrasound-guided”, but “it should be noted that the micro-food processing procedure is only appropriate for early breast cancer”. Dr. Adeyemi has declared that the factors that cause breast cancer are the main hormonal factors, age, environmental factors and lifestyle. Symptoms of breast cancer include: a breast bump or thickening that feels different from the surrounding tissues, the change in the size, shape or appearance of a breast, changes the skin on the breast, like the dimle. week, maintain healthy weight and choose a healthy diet.
