Former Indian Cricket legend Syed Kirmani expressed his concern in the face of the tragic death of 11 royal fans Bengaluru (RCB) during the victory celebrations in Minnaswamy Stadium. The incident occurred when local authorities failed to manage massive participation during the celebrations organized by the management of RCB and the government of Karnataka to honor the newly crowned IPL champions.Kirmani, who was part of the winning team of the 1983 World Cup of India, offered its condolences to bereaved families while reflecting on the changing nature of the culture of fans.“My condolences to the bereaved families. It was a fatal welcome for the champions of IPL. In our time, there was no media threshing of this type and there was no television and there was nothing like such that could lead to such things,” Kirmani told India today. The former goalkeeper, who played 88 tests for India, suggested that the celebration could have been better planned with appropriate arrangements.

“On this chief, I suppose that if RCB was waiting for 17 (18) years to become champions and the organizers who, according to that, could have been waiting for a while for things to settle down and then organize a show to congratulate these great heroes of RCB.”Kirmani wondered if the enthusiasm of similar fans would be shown for the potential victory of the Karnataka Ranji Trophy, highlighting the evolution of the Cricket Fandom.Who is this IPL player?“Fans of our time were not as crazy as today’s fans and especially in IPL, crazy fans are unimaginable, especially since you could see Lakhs and Lakhs were just to have a glimpse of these great heroes.”The jostling results from an unexpected crowd rally to celebrate the victory of the RCB championship, leading to the loss of unhappy lives at the stadium.
