Chennai Super Kings as a franchise never rely on the panic button and there is not much to fear despite the ordinary race for the five-time champions in the current IPL season, its CEO Kasi Viswanathan said on Wednesday. CSK has lost a record of five games in a row this season and more halfway through the tournament, is at the bottom of the dots table with six defeats in eight games. They lacked firepower in the strikers department and the absence of Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad due to an injury only aggravated the legendary outfit. CSK CEO also talked about the race of his team in IPL 2025.
“We have not played to the brand. We are trying to improve and we will try to do well in the next games. We have never pressed the panic button of our franchise is not like that, it’s just a game,” Viswanathan told PTI.
Ms. Dhoni is back at the top of the team in the absence of Gaikwad, but as head coach Stephen Fleming said “ he does not have a magic wand ” and cannot change the fortune of the team overnight.
After the defeat against the Mumbai Indians, CSK finds itself in an essential situation in their six remaining games with Dhoni already speaking of the planning of 2026.
Can Dhoni script a turnaround after taking over from Gaikwad halfway in the tournament? “You see, this is no one’s question. This is a question that the team should do well and not just a person. We are not talking about the management of the team. Dhoni will do what is good for the team.
“What we expect as administers is a good performance of the team and we do not criticize our team at all,” he added.
