This IPL 2025 has thrown some surprises. Run-outs have become fairly common, and might not have added to the downfall of the teams, but have certainly contributed to the drama. Wednesday’s match between RR and DC also saw two run-outs, with Dhruv Jurel falling short of the crease marginally, that took the clash to first super over in three years.
Apart from them, last match’s star Karun Nair was run-out for a duck, after scoring 89 vs MI. That means, this year’s IPL has seen 15 run-outs, with DC sharing the major chunk in that — 6 overall. The next on the list is Shubman Gill-led GT, suffering 3 run-outs. The next on the list are KKR, LSG, and SRH with two run-outs each.
Surprisingly, Axar Patel — DC skipper has been the main culprit in Delhi’s run-out fest. He has been dismissed twice that way, followed by his teammate Vipraj Nigam. Then, of course there are one-time offenders, that includes the likes of LSG’s Prince Yadav, RR’s Wanindu Hasaranga, MI’s Hardik Pandya, Will Jacks, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Arshdeep Singh and Khaleel Ahmed.
As far as DC vs RR match is concerned, the match went into a super-over where Delhi Capitals prevailed, and secured their fifth win of the season. That has taken them to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, while RR have fallen to the eighth position.
