The Punjab Kings (PBKS) has signed Australian Mitchell Owen to replace the injury of Glenn Maxwell, which was excluded for the rest of the 2025 IPL due to a broken fracture this week. Owen, who is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi in Pakistani Super League, will join PBKS for Rs 3 Core. Owen was the main goalscorer of Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25, breaking 452 points at a strike rate of more than 200 to help Hobart Hurricanes to aspire his first title.

“The Punjab Kings (PBKS) has chosen the versatile Mitch Owen to replace Glenn Maxwell, which was excluded from the rest of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a broken finger,” read an official IPL statement.

“Mitch Owen, from Tasmania, Australia, played 34 T20 and marked 646 points, including two centuries and a highest score of 108. The Australian versatile also has 10 T20 counters in its name,” added the press release.

Owen had joined Peshwar Zalmi as an additional player after Corbin Bosch in South Africa decided to break his PSL contract in favor of a move to Mumbai Indians in IPL.
