Central BCCI is contracting this week, 3 new faces to add

Last year, the BCCI announced its central contracts at the end of February, with 30 players appointed.

The Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) will announce the central contracts for the next 2025-26 season by the end of the current week. The BCCI was already a little late, since they published the contracts last year in February. The BCCI seems to have summoned itself during the transformation of the support staff of the cricket team in India and the contracts of the players at the same time.

Earlier in the day, we learned that the assistant coach of India, Abhishek Nayar, had been dismissed before the tour in England. Now, according to Cricbuzz, central contracts will also be available soon.

Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy & Harshit Rana to reward

It was previously reported that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Raviund will Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah will be kept in the A +grade. New information tells us that three new players will be central contracts from BCCI. It will be Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana.

All three made their debut after the announcement of the last contracts. According to BCCI directives, “Athletes who meet the criteria to play at least three tests or eight ODI or 10 T20i in the specified period will be automatically included in Grade C on a pro-rata basis.”

The consideration period for these matches is generally from October to September. Abhishek has played 17 T20is for India since its beginnings. Nitish Kumar obtained 5 test games and 4 T20is to his credit. Therefore, the two qualify.

As for Harshit, he only played 8 games (2 tests, 5 ODI and 1 T20i) and does not qualify in a single format but can receive a contract since he played in the three formats.

Varun Chakaravarthy & Shreyas Iyer Return

Varun Chakaravarthy and Shreyas Iyer should also come back. Shreyas was denied a central BCCI contract last year due to certain problems with the board of directors. As for Chakaravarthy, he returned to the Indian team last year and played 4 ODI and 18 T20is. Shreyas was India’s best drummer in the Champions 2025 trophy.
