Coco Gauff overcomes a racket accident to win the match in the first round

Coco Gauff overcome to be the target of the joke to win a laugh in his first round match at the French Open Tuesday in Paris.

First of all, the funny part: Gauff arrived at Court Philippe-Chatrier without its snowshoes.

A Ball Boy saved the day by recovering the equipment and the second seeded Gauff rescued the momentary mixture, requiring only 71 minutes to record a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Olivia Gadecki of Australia.

“Honestly, as long as I’m on tour, my trainer has always put the snowshoes in the bag before the match because he is very superstitious,” said Gauff. “I blame him on my coach. It’s good.”

No blame was necessary on the performance of Gauff, who held a 3-2 lead before winning six consecutive games to change the complexion of the match.

GAUFF will face the Czech qualification Tereza Valentova in the second round Thursday. Valentova posted a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory against Chloe Paquet of France on Tuesday.

Like Gauff, Jessica Pegula, third seeded, had little problem with her enemy in the first round, breaking at a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Anca Todoni Romanian.

Mirra Andreeva, sixth seeded from Russia, posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Cristina Bucsa of Spain, while Magdalena Frech, 25th seeded, from Poland, overcome a first set by marking 7-6 (4), 6-0 on Jabeur de Tunisia.

Sofia Kenin, who is sown the 31st, experienced a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Varvara Gracheva in France.

Beatriz Haddad Maia, which was ranked 23rd, was not as lucky. Hailey Baptiste turned upside down the Brazilian, graceful of a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory.
