Washington commanders joined the Large Santana Moss receiver in the Ring of Fame of the franchise at the opening of the September 7 season against the New York Giants, the team announced on Sunday.

Moss has played the last 10 seasons (2005-14) of his career in the NFL with Washington after four seasons with the New York Jets (2001-04).

He ranks third in the history of the Washington franchise in Career Catches (581), fourth in reception yards (7,867) and seventh of the Touché receptions (47).

Moss did his Lone Pro Bowl during his first year in the national capital, taking 84 assists for a career summit of 1,483 yards and nine affected. His total footage remains the record for a single season of Washington.

Commanders surprised Moss, 46, during a live broadcast with the team of the training camp in Ashburn, Virginia. He was surrounded by friends and family members carrying Bordeaux caps with “Moss” on the front and his n ° 89 jersey on the sides.

“Normally, I’m so nonchalant,” said an emotional foam. “I don’t know how to take things, but guy, that one right there … I don’t want to show my tears, but I’m about to lose it. I appreciate this news.”

Written in the first round (16th in total) by the jets in 2001, Moss retired with 732 receptions for 10,283 yards and 66 scores in 197 games (135 departures). He had 24 games of 100 yards and four seasons of 1,000 yards.

  1. Oh wow, the Ring of Fame. That’ll definitely fix our 4-13 season problems. Nothing says ‘successful franchise’ like constantly living in the past while the present is burning down around us. But hey, at least we got our priorities straight!

  2. For those who don’t remember the stats: Santana Moss played for Washington from 2005-2014, recorded 6,392 receiving yards and 47 touchdowns. He had three 1,000+ yard seasons and was known for his speed and ability too make big plays in crucial moments. Well deserved honor.

  3. moss was that dude who always showed up when nobody else did haha. remember when he torched dallas secondary twice in one game? that was more entertaining then our entire last season lmao. good times

  4. Look im happy for Santana but lets be real here – the ring of fame is becoming meaningless when management keeps making terrible decisions on the field. We can honor past players all we want but untill we fix whats broken now it doesnt matter. Moss deserves better than this timing tbh

  5. took them long enought lol. moss was good but ring of fame?? i dont know man, seems like there lowering the standards these days.

  6. seriously?? what about other players that deserved it more. art monk had to wait forever and moss gets in this fast? dont get me wrong he was good but this aint right, the organization is just trying to distract fans from current problems

  7. About time they recognized him! Moss gave everything he had for this team through good times and bad. His dedikation and performence on the field speaks for itself.

  8. Finally! Santana deserves this so much, been waiting for this moment for years. One of the most clutch receivers we ever had, remember that Dallas game? Legend!
