Delhi Capitus’s head coach Hemang Badani supported the hors’s up striker, Jake Fraser-McGurk, to come well in the next IPL games, but maintained silence on the availability of the Plessis FAF in the match against Gujarat Titans on Saturday. Fraser-McGurk was out of color this year, scoring only 55 points in six games after a fabulous 2024 IPL season when he raised 330 points, including four half-century in nine games. Despite the lack of form of the young opener, DC has remarkably successful and directed the point table after five victories of six games.
“He (Fraser-McGurk) is someone who gives us massive departures and someone we believe is a winner of the match. Yes, this year’s figures were not the best compared to last year, but we, as a side, believe that he is someone who is probably a player who can always be good for us at a given time.” Badani said he would continue with Fraser-McGurk in the role of opening.
“He (the presence of Fraser-McGurk in the XI) also gives us the freedom to continue to have it on the side because of our position at the moment with five victories in six games; it just gives us the cushion to have someone in the XI and if he draws his happy days for us,” he added.
Du Plessis, the DC vice-captain, has not played since April 10, when he suffered an injury in the outside match against the RCB. The nature of the injury was not confirmed either.
“I can really give you nothing with regard to the team mixture, whether ready or not, we will have to wait and see tomorrow,” said Badani, adding that the team was in a good space after five victories.
“So far, we have spent five good days, so sitting here, I am very happy with the results we have obtained. We are all happy, there is a little fun, jokes, laughter in the side, we all appreciate the company of the other,” he said. Pti am I am ah ah
