England Squad for the 5th test against India announced, CSK Star included

On Monday, July 28, the Cricket Board of England and Wales (BCE) announced the England team for the fifth and last test of the series against the national cricket team of India.

The fifth trial match of the Anderson-Tendulkar 2025 trophy between the national cricket team of India and the national cricket team of England will begin on July 31 at the Kennington oval in London.

Jamie Overton added to Squad for the fifth test

The three Lions are currently leading the Anderson-Tendulkar 2025 trophy by 2-1. They failed to win a victory in the recent test match at Old Trafford in Manchester, despite the domination for almost four days, and the match ended with a draw.

Before that, they won the third test match at Lord’s in London in an epic way by 22 points and the opening of the test series in Headingley in Leeds in a complete way by 5 counters.

So far, their only defeat has come in the second test match in Edgbaston in Birmingham, where they were completely outdated by India led by Shubman Gill. The team led by Ben Stokes underwent a colossal loss of 336 points in this match.

Meanwhile, the selection of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has only made a new addition to the team for the last test match against India.

The 31 -year versatile of Surrey, Jamie Overton, who represented the Super Kings of Chennai (CSK) in the Indian Premier (IPL) 2025, was added to the team.

“The men of England add to the team for the latest Rothesay test against India at the Kia oval. The male selection panel of England added the versatile of Surrey, Jamie Overton, to the team for the fifth test of Rothesay against India in Kia Oval, starting on Thursday, July 31,” said the ECB during an official press release.

Speaking on BBC Test Match Special, former captain Michael Vaughan said that England would be disappointed by the result of the Manchester test because they could not win despite their best performance. He said:

“It was the best performance of England in the series and they did not win. From the start with the draw and choosing to play, and moving the ball, then with the bat in hand with Ollie Pope showing a different technique, then roughly the order of striker that strikes around Joe Root.

“The frustration will be for England not to obtain a counters. The land had no lateral movements, there was nothing and it was difficult to obtain 20 counters on this ground.”

Meanwhile, the legendary SIR Alastair Cook underlined the need to quickly recover for English players and asked for better locations in England, which offer aid to quailleurs. He said:

“The most important thing will be rest and recovery for England and be able to say that they have dominated this test match, but having to admit that the counter won at the end of the day.

“We do not want counters like this, we want them to deteriorate and counters like this one make the striker very easy on the fifth day-we want in danger to the end or at the beginning.”
