Florida State cancels home matches until Sunday after shooting on campus

The Florida State University canceled all the sporting events at home until Sunday after a shooting Thursday on the Tallahassee campus which killed a person and injured six others, according to the media.

A suspect is in police custody compared, and the university alerted people to the campus around noon to shelter in place and wait for other instructions while the police searched the buildings on the main campus.

The FSU said the police responded to an active shooter call from the student union area around 12:01 p.m.

One person is in critical condition and five are in serious condition, according to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.

FSU lessons and commercial operations on the main campus are canceled until Friday.

The Seminoles baseball team was to welcome Virginia for matches Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The FSU softball team matches from Friday to Sunday against Georgia Tech’s visit were also canceled.

The FSU male tennis team is in competition Thursday evening against Louisville in the Atlantic coast conference tournament in Cary, NC
