Before the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the home match against Chennai Super Kings, the rising star Suyash Sharma thought about his difficult trip and his dedication resolved to play sport despite an injury. The 21 -year -old revealed how he had obtained his first IPL contract with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders before going to RCB. “I had never played in an appropriate tournament before the IPL. I had only played under 25. I spent six or seven years in testing, but I was never chosen. Each time I visited my parents, they asked me when I would have a chance in the IPL. But my mother and my dad never doubted me. They could see how hard I worked.”
“After the under 25s, I went for IPL tests. At that time, my Googly was very lively. I think I withdrew eight out of ten in a match, it was a KKR training match, and even the window goalkeeper was beaten. It was then that I was chosen. My father was in the hospital then. He shouted when he heard.
“Before the IPL, I was resting on the bed for three months. I only started the bowling alley two weeks before the tournament. But during these three months, I was visiting everything. I kept thinking about my bowling all day. I was running in my head. I would plan each ball: I will first play like that. I just had to recreate it in the match.”
The Spinner thanked the RCB for having managed his operation in London and having prepared him for IPL 2025. “RCB sent me to London for my surgery. There, I met James Pipey (RCB Team Physio). He and his family treated me like a family. I had three hernias. Recognizing that I am in this franchise,” he said.
“I’m in good shape now. I have been suffering from pain for two years. I used to play in pain. The problem is that if you play for India or a franchise, then you can manage. When I did not play, I had this injury, but I didn’t even know it. I went to a physiotherapist, but it was very difficult. For the best,” added Suyash.
During his IPL inch against RCB and manipulating the pressure of the big scene, the young person added: “My beginning was against the RCB. There was a lot of pressure. I had never even been to watch a match before. I had never seen so many people in a crowd. The atmosphere was crazy. I cannot feel directly.
“My mind was empty. But I tried to do what I had always done. After the first one, everything moved. I could see the crowd, feeling the moment. I always knew that I would play in IPL, 101%. But I did not think it would happen soon. When I worked 19 years.
Asked about his goal for the season, Suyash replied: “I have only one goal that we are winning this year and raise the cup. This is my only goal right now.”
