The Cincinnati Reds host does not provide other restrictions on the right hunter Hunter Greene when he takes the mound against the Brewers of Milwaukee heated by the Red in the second match of a three game series on Tuesday evening.
Greene (4-3, 2.63 ERA) made two departures since he missed two others with a tense groin. He has been looking for his first victory since May 2, but will face a team from Brewers on a sequence of eight consecutive victories.
Greene suffered the defeat after abandoning two points and seven strokes in five rounds of a 3-2 defeat against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.
“They made it work,” said Reds manager Terry Francona. “I did not think he had his best commandment, and I think it’s a little expected during his second step back. Now he will have an additional day this time, and I think that by starting with his next outing, we can somehow remove the gloves. Let him be who he is and not worry about the number of land.”
Greene was 4-2 with a 2.53 MPM when he started against the Braves of Atlanta on May 7, but the groin injury forced him to go out after three goalless rounds.
He returned to oppose the Cubs of Chicago visiting on May 23 and was limited to four two-point ball rounds during the defeat of the Reds 13-6. He launched 83 throws in this match and 88 against the Royals.
“It was one of those days when I had to grind a little more,” said Greene about her latest departure. “If you can make days like (that), I’m very proud of that. More than the days you feel perfect. I have definitely fought and I tried to keep the team in it.
“I still try a little to get my bearings (against the Royals), the beginning was better than the last, but still a lot of work, and I will come back to what I usually do.”
Greene has a 1-4 file with an MPM of 7.45 in six career starts against Milwaukee.
The Brewers have captured the opening of the 3-2 series and will now seek their first sequence of nine consecutive victories since August 2023.
Christian Yelich continues to be the most difficult for Milwaukee.
He was appointed player of the week NL on Monday after spending 10 for 20 in five games with three circuits and nine produced points, including a Grand Colem against the Boston Red Sox visiting on May 27.
“I don’t even know the last time I did it, but I had a good week and I did things to help the team win,” Yelich said about the price.
Yelich started this week by hitting a solo home run during the third round on Monday which broke 2-2 equality.
The Brewers Tuesday starter will be the right-handed veteran Freddy Peralta (5-3, 2.77 MPM), who went 2-1 with an MPM of 3.16 in five departures in May.
During his last outing, he did not receive a decision after granting three points and six strokes in five rounds of a 6-5 milwaukee victory in 10 rounds against Boston on Wednesday.
Peralta, who was 29 years old Wednesday, made 20 appearances (14 departures) against the Reds and is 5-3 with a 3.35 MPM and the only backup of his career.
