  1. Why they keep selecting such young players?? 14 year old boy should be in school not playing international cricket. This is too much pressure for kids this age and what if he get injured? BCCI needs to think more carefully about player development not just winning matches.

  2. Wow this is amzing news for indian cricket!! Ayush Mhatre deserv this chance and Vaibhav at just 14 year old is phenomenal talent. Future looks bright for our U19 team, hope they do well in Australia tour and bring back trophy!

  3. I completly disagree with this decision!! There were more experianced captains available but they went with Mhatre? And keeping 14 year old in team is just publicity stunt nothing else. Australia conditions are tough and we need mature players not school children. This will backfire badly mark my words.

  4. 14 years old playing international cricket while I can’t even wake up before 10am at age 25 😂 Mom was right I should have practiced more cricket instead of playing video games all day lol

  5. Good selection by selectors! Both players showed maturity beyond their age in England tour. Vaibhav scoring runs consistently and Mhatre leadership quality is evident. Australian pitches will be good test for them but I have faith they will perform well and make country proud.

  6. This is recipe for disaster. When will BCCI learn from past mistakes?? Putting so much pressure on teenagers always ends badly. Remember all those young players who were hyped and then disappeared? Same thing will happen here also. We’re ruining careers before they even start properly.

  7. For those wondering, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became youngest player to score century in U19 asia cup last year and also was youngest to get IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals. Ayush Mhatre is also top performer from Mumbai cricket circuit with good leadership skills shown in domestic tournaments. Both selections are based on merit and recent performances in England tour where India did exceptionally well.

  8. So you’re telling me that a captain who has barely proven himself is better than all the other options available? And a 14 year old who had ONE good tour is now indispensable? This selection committee clearly has no idea what theyre doing. There are senior U19 players who deserve these spots more but they get ignored for flashy young names. Absolutely ridiculous decision making!!

  9. Oh great, another 14 year old prodigy. Because that worked out so well for all the other ‘next big things’ we’ve seen over the years. I’m sure he’ll definitely live up to all the hype and not crumble under pressure at all 🙄

  10. Ayush Mhatre captaincy record in domestic cricket is quite impressive with win percentage of around 65%. He scored 170+ runs in last U19 tournament with strike rate over 90. Vaibhav Suryavanshi youngest IPL player at 13 years when contracted. His temperament against quality bowling in England was noteworthy. Australia tour includes 5 match series starting next month in Brisbane and Sydney venues.
