The elegant right -hander reached the milestone during the second test against England in Edgbaston, Birmingham. With 460 points in just four rounds, Gill made a resounding statement in his first series as a full -time skipper.Gill started the series with a superb 147 in Headingley and followed it with a magnificent 269 in the first sleeves in Edgbaston, presenting his class and his composure by testing English conditions.
The previous record belonged to Virat Kohli, who scored 449 points in four rounds during the 2014/15 Indian tour in Australia – a series that marked the start of his successful mandate as a test captain.
