New Delhi: The main selector of England, Luke Wright, announced Thursday that the fast launcher Jofra Archer could return during the second test against India, following a four -year absence of the longer format.The second test of the five -game series should start on July 2 in Edgbaston, operating until July 6.

It was not available for the first test in Headingley while recovering from a fracture of the thumb sustained during the recent Indian Premier League.“Joff hides very well, in fact. The plans for him, he plays a few second team games,” said Wright.“The plan is for him to play a few second team games, taking care of the second team for Sussex. And then the idea for him is to play for Sussex against Durham during the first test.“So, he will play for Sussex if everything goes well, then if everything goes well crossed, it should be available for the second test,” added Wright, who previously played alongside Archer in Sussex.“Like everything with all these quisors, he must continue to check things every day without setbacks, but if everything goes well and that he goes through this Durham game, he is potentially available for the selection for this second test.”The thumb injury led to the absence of an archer of the ODI series of England against the Antilles between May 29 and June 3.
The schedule of series of tests against India includes: First Test in Headingley (from June 20), second in Edgbaston (July 2), third in Lord’s (July 10), fourth at Old Trafford (July 23) and fifth at the Oval (from July 31).The attack on the rhythm of England currently lacks depth and experience without archer and Mark Wood.Wood has been sidelined since March due to a knee injury with a four -month recovery period.
Wright said wood could potentially come back for the end tests of the India series.“I think Woody has now started Bowling just lightly, to be honest. He’s just a few steps away, but it was an excellent sign,” said Wright.“So, he is on the road to recovery. I think it is more in the long term, if we can recover it, it could have an option for the fourth or fifth test. But again, every day, he checks each box and ensures that he is fine,” said the old striker of England.
