IPL 2025: BCCI Shortlist three sites for the 16 remaining games

THE Cricket control advice in India (BCCI) quickly moved to approach the uncertainty surrounding Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025which was suspended earlier this week due to the climbing of tensions between India and Pakistan. With 16 games, including the playoffs and the final, still to play, the BCCI has now preselected three potential places to welcome the rest of the tournament, if the situation in India remains unstable.

IPL 2025 suspension for safety reasons

The IPL 2025 was suddenly interrupted on May 9 after the 58th championship match between the Kings of Punjab and the Capitals of Delhi was canceled halfway for security reasons. The decision, made in consultation with franchise representatives and main stakeholders, aimed to ensure the safety of players, officials and fans. The league, which started on March 22, was originally to end in the final at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 25.

With the suspension in place, the BCCI explored emergency plans to ensure the success of the season. The remaining matches include 12 championship games and four playoffs, a critical phase of the tournament which determines the most lucrative League T20 champion in the world.

BCCI Shortlist three sites for the rest of the IPL 2025

Given the current security problems, the BCCI has identified three cities as potential hosts for the remaining matches: Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.

However, the plan will only be put into action if the tournament resumes in May.

According to Espncricinfo, BCCI officials are cautious about the takeover of the IPL season. The report indicates that the fate of the League is linked to an improvement in the military situation between India and Pakistan; If the tensions persist, the tournament could take place later in the year. A potential recovery in May also arouses concerns about the availability of foreign players, many of which would have returned home for security reasons. Of the three cities currently preselected as potential places, only Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Stay in the running for the playoffs. With Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) already eliminated, the resumption of matches in these specific cities could give RCB a significant home advantage during the qualifying scene.
