Joaquin Niemann was practically impeccable on Sunday, firing a 65 under 65 under the Chapultepec golf club to win his third championship of the season at Liv Golf Mexico.
Niemann started his two shots, but three birdies on his first seven holes put her in an enviable position. He added birdies to n ° 10, 12, 16 and 18 to finish three strokes in front of the field at 16 for the tournament.
The victory came before family and friends.
“Yeah, it’s special,” said Niemann. “My mother came all along. I think the first time my mother has seen me win, so it’s pretty cool. So yes, I had my mother here, Didi, my wife, my friends, my team. It was a very good month, so yes, happy.”
The captain of the GC couple in Chile had a Bogey on the 14th.
After his third victory in the tournament, Niemann remained at the top of the individual championship of a season, a title which has escaped him little in 2024 when he finished second behind Jon Rahm.
He also locked up a place at the US Open in June.
“Yeah, that’s good,” said Niemann. “I feel like I want to be there (at the open in the United States), so yes, it’s great to continue doing what I do, hitting the brilliant ball, making putts, and yes, I hope to keep it while rolling.”
The 26 -year -old was barely pressed late, with the best charges from the incredible round transformed by Lucas Herbert de Ripper GC, a beauty of 10 under 61 which included an eagle and eight birdies.
Herbert essentially lacked tracks to finish the return, coming too far behind the leaders to make up for a delay. However, he helped the Cameron Smith Ripper team (72) in second position in the team’s ranking, behind Legion XIII (68) by Jon Rahm.
“Just one of those towers where everything meets,” said Herbert. “I thought that I had played quite decent these last two days, I did not have many breaks, and I felt like today every time there was a kind of line of line, I had the right kick and I would do a putt where I needed or just anything – just this kind of thing. It just kept the momentum through the Channel.
“Listen, I played well, I really enjoyed feeling everything I felt the last holes, but it’s just one of those rounds where everything clicks for you, and it was a pretty cool feeling to do it during an event like this.”
Bryson Dechambeau, driving the peloton entering the day, was trying to go thread but was very short with a last round 71 and had to be satisfied with equality for the second with Herbert at 13 years old.
Rahm finished fourth among individuals at 12 years old, while Tyrrell Hatton (68) by Smith and Legion finished equally for the fifth (11 sous).
“It is quite difficult to make it more special than this moment right now,” said Niemann. “I mean, this place is incredible. It was a good battle with Bryson, with Cam, so I’m happy to be in this position right now.”
Torque finished the tournament in third place, while 4ths finished fourth.
