Nitish Reddy suddenly reduced his links with his former sports agency, because of which he is prosecuted for unpaid contributions.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has been dealt a double blow. The first was an unexpected injury, which ruled him out of the remaining two matches of the India vs England Test series. The second has been a legal notice sent by his former agency.

Nitish Reddy taken to court

Square The One, which managed from 2021 until the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, has claimed that Nitish hasn’t paid them dues worth a whopping Rs 5 crore. The sports player agency was associated with him before the all-rounder gained fame.

For 4 years, the agency helped Nitish get brand endorsements. However, during India’s tour of Australia, their partnership came to an end. According to India Today, Nitish decided to cut ties with his agency and signed with the manager of another Indian cricketer who was part of the team for the tour.

“Ninety percent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself,” a source said.

Hearing on July 28

Subsequently, the agency filed a legal suit against him. The case will be heard on July 28 in the Delhi High Court. The petition filed comes under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, alleging breach of the management agreement and non-payment of dues.

  1. Can someone explain what exactly are these contributions? Are they related to election funding or some other project? Need more details to understand the full picture here.

  2. Oh wow I’m so shocked. A politician having money problems. This has never happened before in history of universe. Someone alert the media! Oh wait…

  3. Oh great! Another ‘injured in legal difficulty’ situation. Maybe he slipped on banana peel and accidentally forgot to pay 5 crores? These headlines are getting more creative everyday.

  4. This is very serious matter. How can such big person not pay 5 crore? Very disappointing to see this kind of behavior from respectable peoples. Law should be equal for everyone no matter how rich or powerful they are.

  5. This allegations are completely baseless and politically motivated!! There is clear conspiracy to defame him before elections. Where is the proof? Why now suddenly this issue is coming up?

  6. Good news for those who believe in accountability. Hope the investigation is thorough and transparent. We need more such actions to clean up the system.

  7. According to legal experts, non-payment of statutory contributions can lead to serious consequences including asset seizure and imprisonment. This case will likely set precedent for similar cases in future. The amount of Rs 5 crore suggest this is not small oversight but deliberate avoidance.

  8. Wow 5 crore only? That’s like pocket change for these peoples. They probably spend more than this on their childrens birthday party lol.

  9. I don’t think this is fair at all. There must be some misunderstanding or accounting error. Why would someone of his stature intentionally not pay such amount? We should wait for his side of story before jumping to conclusions.

  10. Haha ‘injured in legal difficulty’ is new term I learned today. Must add to my dictionary. Next time I don’t pay my electricity bill I’ll also say I’m injured in legal difficulty.

  11. Finally some action is being taken! These politicians think they are above the law. Good to see justice system working properly atleast in this case.

  12. My question is simple – if regular person like us don’t pay even 5000 rupees we get notice immediately. But these big shots don’t pay 5 CRORE and take years for action?? System is broken man.

  13. But what is the timeline? When were these contributions supposed to be paid? Was there any notice given before? News doesn’t give proper context, very frustrating to read half information.
