The wife of the former England and the Porter de Surrey, Alec Stewart, Lynn Stewart, died following a long battle against cancer.
In a press release published by Sury on Monday, club president Oli Slipper confirmed the news.
“The sincere condolences of everyone at the Surrey County Cricket Club are with Alec and the whole Stewart family,” wrote Slipper on the club’s official website.,, external
“Our best wishes are with the family and we will continue to offer them any support that we can.
“In the meantime, we ask people to respect their privacy during this difficult period.”
In March 2024, Stewart announced that he would withdraw from his role as director of the Surrey cricket in order to spend more time with his wife and family.
“As people may know, my wife has been fighting for cancer since 2013 and I want to give it, and my family, more of my time in the coming years that this work does not allow it,” said Stewart on the club website,, external at the time.
