The Seattle Mariners receiver, Cal Raleigh, exceeded the legendary Johnny Bench for most of the circuits before the stars break by a main receiver when he struck two against the Chicago Cubs during the 9-4 Friday victory.
Raleigh has 29 circuits to break a record for 55 years. The Hall of Famer bench reached 28 years in 87 games as a main receiver of the Cincinnati Reds before the 1970 stars break. Raleigh managed this brand in just 73 games.
Raleigh was honored to have his name associated with a bench, considered one of the best sensors in the history of sport.
“Whenever you are mentioned even in the same sentence as one of the best – if not the best – to do it, is obviously a special and special thing,” said Raleigh. “So I am very grateful.”
Raleigh said he met Bench last November at a Gold Glove prize ceremony in New York. He said that a large part of their discussion revolved sustainability.
Raleigh, 28, has only missed one of the 74 Seattle games this season. In addition to its total of Homer at the head of major leagues, Raleigh has 63 points produced and an average of .273.
He established career records of 34 circuits and 100 products produced last season.
Raleigh is able to run to the Homer record in a season of Salvador Perez for a main receiver. Perez slapped 48 in 2021.
Raleigh hit a solo circuit during the first and a two -point shot in the seventh Friday.
