A pair of lifts who have become starters will take the mound when the Giants of San Francisco welcome the Miami Marlins in the final of their three-game series on Thursday afternoon.
Janson Junk is expected to make his second consecutive start after five relief appearances for the Marlins, while Hayden Birdsong will take the ball for the Giants to prevent a miami scan.
The Marlins won the opening of the 4-2 series on Tuesday evening, then wasted a two-point lead in the ninth Wednesday before scoring four points in the 10th in an 8-5 victory. Miami won a height of three games in a row.
Junk (2-0, 2.60 ERA) was impressive at his first start to the season last Friday – just the eighth start of his five -year MLB career.
