Abhishek Nayar, who was associated with the Indian Cricket team as an assistant coach for the past eight months, has been dismissed by the BCCI last week. Although the poor performance of the team at the Border Gavaskar trophy is considered a reason behind Nayar’s dismissal, some reports have made serious allegations. A PTI report said Nayar’s dismissal was on the cards after Sitanshu Kotak had been added to the Indian team support staff as an additional striker.

“… just after the tour of Australia, there was a review meeting led by the BCCI. The senior officials of the board of directors, including the secretary Devajit Saikia and the vice-president Rajeev Shukla, were present with important members associated with the Indian team, and the national selectors,” said a BCCI source cited by the press agency.
“On the sidelines of the meeting, a powerful member of the support staff expressed their apprehensions about the presence of Nayar and said how his being in the locker room turns out to be counterproductive.” While the BCCI did not act immediately but they brought Kotak, the former accumulator of Saurashtra. It was a way of limiting Nayar during the champions trophy, “added the source.
Now Rohit Sharma has sent a message of two words to Abhishek Nayar a few days after his dismissal. On his Instagram history, the captain of the Indian Cricket team wrote: “Thank you Bro”. At the same time, Rohit shared a photo of himself of the Indian Mumbai match against Chennai Super Kings IPL 2025 Sunday. After a chain of bad scores, Rohit slammed 76 * on 45 balls.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Rohit had worked with Nayar even during the IPL last week. In fact, they collaborate before IPL. Nayar has now joined Kolkata Knight Riders support staff.
Nayar and the former Star of the Netherlands Ryan Ten Dosechate joined Team India support staff as assistant trainers during the Sri Lanka white ball tour last year. Nayar and Doedchate were also assistant coaches in KKR and worked with Gambir and won the IPL 2024 title with him and Captain Shreyas Iyer.
