Mr. Chinnaswamy’s stadium in Bengaluru could be prohibited from hosting high frequentation events while the government has decided to act on the conclusions of the judge’s commission John Michael Cunha, which concluded that the design and structure of the stadium are not suitable and not healthy for mass gatherings.

The commission was set up to investigate the tragic bombing occurred on June 4 outside the stadium, leading to the death of 11 people. The incident took place on the road surrounding the place during the celebrations of the victory parade after the triumph of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The report highlighted several critical gaps, including the lack of queues and circulation areas specially designed separate from public roads, an insufficient number of doors for entry and large -scale exit, inadequate integration with public transport and tourist centers, and the absence of emergency evacuation plans in accordance with international safety standards. Sufficient parking and deposit infrastructure to manage the volumes of the participants.

“Any future site should comply with international standards,” said the commission cited by Deccan Herald.

“Until such infrastructure changes are made, the continuation of hosting attendance events on the current location presents unacceptable risks for public security, urban mobility and emergency preparation,” said the committee in its report.

The current structure hinders pedestrian movements and vehicles during overcrowded events

Built in 1974, the structural premises of 32,000 inhabitants were owned and managed by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). The stadium extends over 16 acres and 32 Guntas of land belonging to the Department of Public Works (PWD), which rented the property to the KSCA for a period of 99 years from July 1969. There was also a national installation of the National Cricket Academy next to the site,

“The design and structure of the stage were unsuitable and dangerous for mass collection [sic]. All the entrance and exit doors opened directly to the path. The spacious and organized detention zone for the crowd was not provided at the entrance, consequently, the public was forced to queue on the path or the road (obstructing) and endangering pedestrians and vehicle movements as well as to give a range for disbelievers to reach the crowd aggravating the risk, in particular in the absence of appropriate security, “indicates the report.

The panel recommended an action against The president of the Ksca Raghuram BhatEx-secretary to Shanlar, former treasurer ES Jairam, vice-president of the RCB Rajesh Menon, DNA Entertainment Networks MD T Venkat Vardhan and VP Sunil Mathur, B Dayananda B, Vikash Kumar Vikash, Shekhar H Tekkannavar, C Balakrishna and Ak Girish. The government is likely to decide the recommendations at the next meeting of the cabinet.

Chinnaswamy should accommodate the Maharaja trophy

The historic place should now host the Maharaja Ksca T20 trophy For the 2025 edition of the 20 Tournament on the State. The 34 games in the League will be organized in Bengaluru, and it seems that the tournament has not received any objection in terms of reception of the matches in Chinnaswamy.
