Jacobs, a 23 -year -old versatile, born in South Africa, passed the 2025 IPL on the sidelines with the Mumbai Indians (Mi). The franchise picked him up like an emerging talent, but he did not play the game XI, rather spending most of the games to observe shelter and soak in the advice of the Mis of Mi, including Lasith Malinga, Rohit SharmaKieron Pollard and Jasprit Bumrah. “IPL was an incredible experience, and I had three months to learn new facets of my game”, “ Jacobs recently reflected, admitting that the passage has refined both its technique and its mental skills.

Despite his lack of playing time in Mumbai, Jacobs continued to impress in the domestic circuit of New Zealand – recording his first Plunket Century shield and making notable contributions in the franchise leagues around the world. 1. For those who dont know, Narmer played only 2 matches for MI in IPL 2025 where he scored 15 and 8 runs. His domestic T20 average is around 28 with strike rate of 135. The Zimbabwe T20i Tri Series includes South Africa A squad and New Zealand emerging players, not full strength teams. So its good platform for fringe players to prove themself.

  2. People saying he dont deserve this are wrong!! Everyone needs start somewhere no? If Hardik and Bumrah can support him in MI then he has potential. You all just jealous that your team players not getting chances lmao.

  3. Oh wow, from Mumbai Indians bench to international cricket. What an incredible journey of… *checks notes* …still being a bench warmer but with different jersey colors. Truly inspirational stuff!

  4. Lol what a joke. Guy cant even make playing XI in IPL and now suddenly international player? Zimbabwe tri series is not even proper cricket man. This is just participation trophy level stuff.

  5. Finally Narmer getting some international exposur! He deserved this chance after sitting on bench whole IPL season. Good to see MI players getting opportunities in internationl cricket even if its just T20i tri series.

  6. Wait so he went from carrying drinks for MI to playing actual international matches?? Thats like getting promoted from office intern to CEO lmaoo. But honestly good for him tho, everyone deserves chance.

  7. The Zimbabwe T20i Tri Series is actually good tournament for exposure. Last year few players who performed here got IPL contracts. Match conditions are different from Indian pitches so it tests adaptability. SA vs NZ games will be competitive even if not full teams.

  8. This selection makes no sense at all. There are so many domestic performers who scoring runs consistently in Ranji and Vijay Hazare. But selectors choosing IPL bench warmers instead. What message does this send to domestic cricketers who working hard??

  9. Another classic case of IPL connection over actual performance. Guy probably has good agent or right connections in BCCI. Meanwhile genuine talents rotting in domestic circuit without any recognition whatsoever.

  10. Its only Zimbabwe tri series guys, calm down. Not like he got selected for World Cup or something. Let the boy play and gain experience.

  11. This is great news! Hard work always pays off. Narmer must have impressed in nets and practice matches. Wishing him all the best for the series.

  12. Sure, because what international cricket really needed was another player who couldnt crack the MI playing eleven. Next thing you know they’ll be selecting water boys for World Cup squad. Standards have really fallen.
