Ottawa’s accusation signed Norwegian defender Emma Bergesen on Saturday for the PWHL 2025-26 season.

Bergesen, 25, played his college hockey in Canada at Royal Mount University in Calgary from 2019 to 24.

“I have struggled to calm down since this contract has played in the PWHL,” said Bergesen in a press release. “It was a huge goal to play in this league once it started.”

She launched her professional career in 2024-25 with SDE HF in Sweden and collected 19 points in 33 games.

“Emma is a young defender who, according to our group, has a good advantage,” said the director general of the charge, Mike Hirshfeld. “It is a defense in the moving of the washer with strong offensive instincts. His sense of hockey and his vision are excellent. We really like his potential.”

Bergesen is the first Norwegian to sign with a PWHL team.
