Pakistan refuses to go to India for the Women’s World Cup, the PCB chief provides a sharp message

The president of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohin Naqvi, announced on Saturday that their women’s team will not go to India for the ICC ODI World Cup later this year and would play their matches in a neutral place, after the hybrid model accepted earlier this year. When Pakistan recently welcomed the ICC champions trophy, BCCI had refused to send the Indian team through the border due to the diplomatic tension between the two nations and their matches took place in Dubai. A hybrid model has been agreed which allowed India and Pakistan to play its matches on neutral sites if one of the two countries was to host a CPI event.

“Just as India has not played Pakistan in the Champions Trophy and was allowed to play in a neutral place, whatever the decided place, we will play. When there is an agreement, it must be respected,” he said.

The leader of the PCB said that India and the ICC being the guests of the tournament would decide the neutral place.

India will host the tournament from September 29 to October 26, Australia being the reigning champions.

Naqvi also expressed his satisfaction with the impressive way in which the Pakistani female team qualified for the World Cup.

Pakistan ended up winning his five games in the qualifying that held in Lahore. They beat Ireland, Scotland, the Antilles, Thailand and Bangladesh to qualify gently for the main round for which the hosts of India, England, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka have already qualified.

“The team has shown how to bring home and play like a collective unit. I am happy that female cricket is doing well now,” he said.

He added that the PCB would certainly announce a special reward for the women’s team for their exceptional performance.

Naqvi also said that it was happy that the PCB organized another ICC event successfully after the Champions Trophy.
