RCB Marketing Head Nikhil SOSALE Liberated temporary, Passport held

Following the tragic scholarship outside the stadium of Mr. Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru, the High Court of Karnataka granted a deposit to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Marketing and income chief, Nikhil Sosale, while ordering him to give up his passport. This decision comes in the wake of a stampede on June 4 during the IPL 2025 victory celebrations of RCB, which cost the life of 11 lives and injured more than 50 people.

The jostling occurred outside the stadium after the RCB announced a free entry for fans to celebrate the team’s success on June 4. The event saw fans of fans arising, which led to chaos outside the stadium and to win 11 lives and to injure more than 50 people.

Nikhil, as well as Sunil Mathew (Vice -President – Business) and Kiran Kumar (Senior Event Manager) of DNA Entertainment Network, RCB event management partner, were arrested in the first hours of June 6. Sosale was owned at the airport by the central crime branch. A fourth accused, Shamant NP Mavinakere, an independent ticket office, was also placed in police custody. All four were sent to the central prison of Parappana Agrahara.

The police have pointed out the events of the event for having omitted to regulate the crowd despite the knowledge of the potential scale of the participation rate. The FIR said that confusion in the management of the entry has played a direct role in the Stampede.

The arrests triggered legal debates, in particular after the Sosal lawyer challenged their legality before the High Court of Karnataka. The defense argued that the arrests had been politically influenced, citing alleged instructions from the Siddaramaiah chief to have RCB officials. They also argued that the police had no competence in the matter and arrested individuals without investigation or sufficient proof of guilt.

J. Sr Krishna Kumar of the High Court of Karnataka finally ruled in favor of the granting of the deposit to the four accused, including Sosal. However, the court imposed conditions, notably asking Sosale to give up his passport to prevent any chance of escape.
