Sanju Samson, Rahul Dravid have little or no luck

The effects of the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 wounded massively the Royals Rajasthan (RR). They have lost people like Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult, among many other key players, and are now in shock in the lower half of the 2025 IPL point table. Well, the team led by Sanju Samson is technically about 10% likely to qualify for the IPL 2025 eliminatory series after the defeat of RR against Delhi Capitals (DC) april.

With only 2 victories of their first 7 matches, the Sanju Samson team needs a serious turnaround. The simplest route? Win all their remaining 7 games. This will push them to 18 points – a guaranteed ticket for the playoffs. But expecting a perfect sequence of a team that fights against inconsistency is more optimistic than practical.

Sanju Samson has a difficult way to come

Since the expansion of the IPL to 10 teams, 16 points have almost always ensured the qualification of the playoffs. If RR can manage 6 victories of their 7 remaining games, they will finish with 16 points – enough to stay in advance on the size of the midfielder. The margin of error is thin like the razor.

A 5-2 finish from here will bring them to 14 points, but this leads them into the tangle of net execution rate. A strong NRR could help, but it is a lottery at this stage. Nothing less, and RR can pack their bags early, once again. Since 2020, the teams with 14 points have qualified in three different seasons, including IPL 2024, when RCB succeeded with 14 points on the board. Needless to say, RR must raise the socks and should play his best cricket to stay in the running for the playoffs.
