  1. Disagree completely. He should understand the sentiments of people. Not everything is about cricket and entertainment. There are bigger issues at stake here that he conviniently ignoring.

  2. But what about the security concerns?? You cant just ignore the ground realities. Sport is important yes but not more important than peoples safety. Ganguly needs to think before making such statements.

  3. “Sport must go on” he says… from the safety of his couch 😄 Easy to be philosofical when cameras are on you and nobody expecting you to actually do anything about it!

  4. Context matters here – the Asia Cup format has changed over years. It alternates between ODI and T20 formats. The tournament serves as crucial preparation for world cups and also generates significant revenue for participating boards. India and Pakistan matches alone account for roughly 80% of total viewership for the entire tournament.

  5. Oh wow, how brave of Dada to support a match that’s already scheduled and approved! 👏 Next he’ll probably take credit for inventing cricket itself.

  6. Ganguly be like: “I support match” Everyone: “But sir, you not president anymore” Ganguly: “Did I stutter?” 🤣🤣

  7. Finally someone with sense! Ganguly is absolutly right, politics and sport should be seperate. The fans been waiting for this match for so long, we deserve to see these two great teams play.

  8. Easy for him to say now that he not president anymore. Where was this bravery when he was in charge? Typical politician behavior if you ask me.

  9. Love how Ganguly suddenly becomes the voice of reason when theres no pressure on him whatsoever lol. “Sport must go on” – yeah, specially when your not the one making the actual decision anymore 😂

  10. So your telling me that all the years when actual decisions needed to be made, he was silent, but NOW he has opinion? The logic doesnt make sense. Either you stand for something when it matters or you dont stand at all. This is just empty words from someone who wants to stay relevant in the media.

  11. For those who dont know, Ganguly was BCCI president from 2019 to 2022. During his tenure, the India-Pakistan bilateral ties remained frozen due to political tensions. The last bilateral series between the two nations was back in 2012-13. Asia Cup provides one of the rare occasions where these teams meet, and historically these matches draw viewership numbers in the hundreds of millions.

  12. This is good news actually. We need more voices like Ganguly in cricket administration who prioritize the sport over politics.
