The Braves of Atlanta optionized the right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver in Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.
Smith-Shawver, 22, left 0-2 with an MPM of 4.61 to three laps in the rotation of Atlanta.
He had his best match of the season on Saturday, granting two points on six strokes and withdrawing seven in five rounds against the host Tampa Bay Rays. The Braves joined the ninth for a 5-4 victory.
The Braves recalled the right -hander lift Michael Petersen, 30, of Gwinnett in a corresponding transaction. He has a 3-1 career file with an MPM of 5.95 in 16 appearances divided between the Los Angeles and Miami Marlins dodgers in 2024.
