For two nights, the Cardinals of Saint-Louis beat the Cubs of Chicago to their own power game.

The cardinals struck seven circuits while beating the Cubs 8-2 and 8-7 in the first two competitions in the four game series in St. Louis. They won seven of their last eight games to move in the 2,1/2 games of the Cubs of the National League.

Saint-Louis will try to continue to take place against Chicago on Wednesday evening.

“Our guys continue to play each land with a ton of heart,” said the cardinals manager Oliver Marmol. “We feel good about our guys who take good strikes and the possibility of launching races.”

Nolan Gorman (4-en-8, two circuits, three products produced), Lars Nootbaar (2-en-7, two circuits, four products produced), Masyn Winn (2-for-7, double, Homer, three points produced) and Brendan Donovan (3-for 8, Homer, Two Runs, Two Rbis) led the way in this series.

The cardinals will start the right-hander Erick Fedde (3-6, 3.54 ERA), which is mired in a slip without victory seven stages.

Fedde granted two points (one deserved) in five rounds of a decision without decision during a 5-4 victory against the White Sox of Chicago on Thursday.

It is 0-1 with an MPM of 6.33 in four career starts against the Cubs.

The cardinals made alignment adjustments on Tuesday, designating the public service player Jose Barrero for assignment after claiming the public service player Garrett Hampson of the Cincinnati Reds. The Roddery Munoz lift was sent to Triple-A Memphis to create a place for the launcher starting from Tuesday, Michael McGreevy.

The Cubs have lost five of their last six games while granting 54 points during this period. They will turn to the left-hander Matthew Boyd (6-3, 2.84), who remained on his rotation calendar despite his previous departure with a bruise on his shoulder.

Boyd suffered this injury while including a hard smash towards the mound. He granted two points on two strokes and two goals on balls in five rounds in a decision without a decision against the Seattle Mariners during this 9-4 defeat on Friday.

He withdrew six and left after only 76 throws.

“He stiffens fairly quickly, so there was simply no way to go back there,” said Cubs director Craig Counsell.

Boyd has granted two or less points into five consecutive appearances since May 28.

During his career, he is 1-1 with 2.12 in three starts against the cardinals.

The Cubs activated the List Porter Hodge on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and downgraded the launcher leaving Ben Brown to Triple-A Iowa. Hodge had been put aside with a left oblique tension and an impact of the left hip.

“It’s good to find him,” said Counsell about Hodge. “We will try to get him out regularly. We know that wearing maybe an important room and a big piece. I don’t think we’re here right now, and I think he has to present a little more. But we want to have it active and we want to work to get it in this place.”
