NEW DELHI: Anaya BangarAs a child of the former Indian cricket player and coach Sanjay Bangar, recently spoke of “toxic masculinity” who continues to impregnate the world of cricket. Last year, she spoke publicly for the first time in her transformation career, which included hormone therapy in replacement and the surgery affirmed by the sexes. Formerly known as Aryan, Anaya had followed her father’s footsteps by playing age group cricket. However, Anaya admitted that pursuing her cricket career after the transition came with many challenges.
In an interview with Lallantop, Anaya was invited: “When you realize that” I am in the bad sex chosen? “”
Anaya replied: “For me, it was when I was eight or nine years old, I used to choose clothes in my mother’s closet and wear them. Then I looked in the mirror and said:” I am a girl. I want to be a girl. “”
Thinking about the cricket trip, Anaya said: “I played with well -known cricket players like Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal. I had to maintain the secret of me because Dad is a well -known figure. Cricket World is filled with insecurity and toxic masculinity.”
Anaya was also asked how the other cricket players reacted after gender assertion.
“There has been support and there was also harassment,” said Anaya.
When asked for the kind of harassment she faced, Anaya revealed: “There were a few cricket players who have taken me at random photos.”
Anaya continued to tell other disturbing experiences: “The person used to give Galis in front of everyone. The same person then came and sat next to me and asked for my photos. There was another case, when I was in India, I said to a Puraane cricket (veteran) about my situation. He told me that I wanted to sleep with you.”
Like their father, who represented India in 12 tests and 15 ODIs between 2001 and 2004, Anaya also played a cricket. Anaya played for Islam Gymkhana in the cricket of the local club and also represented the Hinckley Cricket Club in the Leicestershire.
However, in November 2023, the International Cricket Council (CIC) has announced a new policy prohibiting Transgender athletes Participation in the international cricket of women.
“Inclusion is incredibly important for us as a sport, but our priority was to protect the integrity of the international game of women and the safety of players,” the CEO of the ICC said, Geoff Aldice, in a statement.
Reacting to the decision, Anaya shared a detailed article on Instagram, expressing its disappointment concerning the new rule.
