So, after a lucky escape at Manchester, Shubman Gill’s team will be a happy unit. But then, the Oval Test is only a couple of days away and there is no time to rest. As reported by RevSportz, the Indian side has left for London on Monday evening, in a train, and will reach the venue for the fifth Test, in approximately couple of hours.

That said, the team would waste no time, and get to practice from Tuesday onwards, at 2 PM IST. As tweeted by RevSportz Global, this will be an optional practice session for players, while the training session on Wednesday will be compulsory for all players. That would take place at around 5 PM IST.

Meanwhile, the IND vs ENG fifth Test is set to begin on July 31, with the series poised at 1-2. If Team India manage to secure in London, they will retain the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, since they had beaten England at home in 2024. In fact, this would be the second series on the trot, where England fail to win it — the 2021 series ended in a 2-2.

But then there is a lot to work upon, for India. Firstly, they need to get their selection right. They have till now, ignored Kuldeep Yadav, who is an out-an-out wicket-taking option. With Jasprit Bumrah unlikely to play in the Test, the wrist-spinner becomes a must for the team.

Another challenge would be to get a new-look pace attack. Mohammed Siraj has played four Tests, and didn’t just look in the best of rhythm in the Manchester clash. After having bowled 140 overs in the series, his body needs some rest too. If these changes are incorporated, then India’s attack could be led by Akash Deep, followed by Prasidh Krishna, and then Arshdeep Singh.

  1. Great planning by board and team! Extra practice time always help specially in English condition where ball swings alot. Players can work on their technique and get use to weather also.

  2. According to previous tours, teams usually reach 5-6 days before test match. The Oval pitch generally favors pace bowlers in first two days then it slow down. Indian team will get aproximately 4 practice sessions if weather permits which should be sufficent for preparations.

  3. Oh wow, reaching on Monday for a test match, what an revolutionary idea! I’m sure no other cricket team in history has ever thought of this brilliant strategy before. Truly groundbreaking stuff from team management. *slow clap*

  4. Too late now isnt it? They should of reached last week atleast. What difference will Monday make when test starts Thursday?? Team management always makes this kind of mistakes.

  5. Why so much hype for practice schedule? Its just normal procedure that every team follows before match. Nothing special here, media making big deal out of everything these days.

  6. The team should focus on net sessions for middle order batsmans specially. Also need to check if Jadeja is fit or not because his absence in last match was clearly visible. Practice calendar looking good on paper but execution matters most.

  7. Everyone saying this is good timing but I completely disagree. Remember 2018 tour? We reached early and still lost badly. The problem is not when we reach, its about team selection and batting collaps. No amount of practice will fix that if same players keeps getting chance.

  8. Ah yes, because what we really needed was another practice schedule announcement. I’m absolutely certain this will solve all our problems. The opposition teams must be trembling in fear knowing we have a *practice calendar* now. Championship incoming for sure!

  9. Finally some good news! The team reaching London early means they will get proper time to ajust with conditions. This is what we needed after last match performence. Hope they practice hard and come back strong in oval test!

  10. Practice calendar revealed? More like damage control calendar revealed lmao. They should release calendar for how to actually play test cricket first because clearly current players forgot that part 😂
