The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) filed a petition before the High Court of Karnataka contesting the remarks of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) concerning the tragic Stampede in Bengaluru on June 4. The court said that the franchise was prima facie responsible for the Mishap which had led to 11 deaths.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their first title IPL on May 3, ending a expectation of 17 years. The franchise organized a victory parade the next day to celebrate the historic victory. However, the short notice has left the city administration for a short time in order to implement adequate measures to control the crowd and security.
RCB blamed Prima Facie for the tragedy in Victory Parade
The central administrative court recently published its first official declaration on the tragic Stampede. In particular, the court said that the franchise had organized the event without obtaining prior authorization, leaving the authorities for a short time to prepare.

“Suddenly, the RCB has created the type of nuisance aforementioned without any prior authorization. We cannot expect the police that in a short period of time approximately 12 hours, the police will take all the measures required in the law on the police or in the other rules, etc.”, said part of the CAT declaration, as indicated by India today.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru said that the franchise was refused a fair opportunity to defend itself before being blamed for the Stampede. In his petition, RCB alleged that he had been unjustly detained “Prima facie responsible” although it was not included as a party in the procedure.
“Although it was not a party before that, the court held RCB Prima facie responsible. The conclusions are contrary to natural justice because the RCB has not been heard,” said the advocacy, filed by the defender of Raghuram Cadambi, as reported by Bar and Banc.
On June 4, around 300,000 people gathered in front of Mr. Chinnaswamy stadium to watch RCB players after their IPL title victory. However, inadequate confusion and security arrangements have triggered a stampede.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended an expectation of 18 years for an IPL title
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally ended their 18 years of waiting for an IPL title with a triumphant campaign during the 2025 season. Bengaluru had previously reached the last three times, in 2009 (VS Deccan Chargers), 2011 (VS Chennai Super Kings) and 2016 (VS Sunrisers Hyderabad).

They beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) with a dominant victory with eight titles in the qualifier 1 to book a place in the final.
They won the title with a close victory of six points on PBKS. With this victory, Rajat Patidar became the first captain in the history of the team to raise the IPL trophy, ending nearly two decades of sorrow for the franchise and his fans.
