The Boston Red Sox placed right -handed Walker Buehler on the 15 -day injured list with inflammation in his shoulder, but manager Alex Cora said it was not a long -term concern.
“He will go on the IL,” Cora told journalists on Friday. “We don’t think it’s so serious. Miss two departures and I hope to be back at the end of the days.”
Buehler left the team while he was in Toronto earlier this week and returned to Boston to undergo tests on the shoulder before the Red Sox made the decision.
His passage is retroactive on Tuesday. Already scratched by his departure scheduled for the Minnesota twins on Friday, Buehler will be eligible to get out of the IL on May 14.
“We will talk about it, but I’m not too worried about it,” said Cora. “(Chief athletic trainer) Brandon (Henry) is not either. I hope it is something where there are two starts and he is back with us.”
The right-wing hunter Hunter Dobbins was recalled from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding movement. He should start the match on Saturday against the Twins.
Dobbins, 25, went 2-0 with an MPM of 2.45 in two departures of April for Boston. It was 1-0 with an MPM of 6.39 in three appearances (a departure) for Worcester.
Buehler, 30, launched the last time on Saturday when he beat Cleveland Guardians to improve at 4-1 in six starts. He abandoned three points and seven strokes in six rounds, withdrawing three and walking one.
Buehler has an MPM of 4.28 with 29 stick withdrawals against nine steps in 33 2/3 rounds.
The pain in Buehler’s pitching arm always leads to anxiety. Buehler underwent two Tommy John surgeries during his career, and the latter in 2022 made him miss all the 2023 season and made his debut in 2024 in May.
Buehler had a full season without problem in 2021 when he made 33 career departures. He went 16-4 with an MPM of 2.47 this season.
The right-hander Brayan Bello (2-0, 3.27 ERA) made the start of Friday for Boston against Minnesota.
