The Texans of Houston will intremate Janice McNair, who co -founded the team with his late husband, in their ring of honor.
The ceremony will take place on November 2 at halftime of the Texans match against the Broncos of Denver.
She will become the fourth honored, according to her husband, Robert McNair, and the franchise icons Andre Johnson and JJ Watt.
Janice McNair keeps the title of senior chair with the team. The expansion of the Texans joined the NFL in 2002.
“My parents brought football back to Houston over 20 years ago and since then, my mother has gave our city so much to our organization,” said Cal McNair, president and CEO of the team. “There is no one more who deserves to be the next member of this illustrious group than Maman. She continues to be the biggest fan of our team, and I know how proud it would be to see her name join hers in the chevrons of the NRG stadium. I can’t wait to celebrate her introduction to the ring of honor this season.”
Johnson became the first member of the Ring of Honor in 2017. McNair, who died at 81 years old in 2018, was inducted the following year, with Watt added in 2023.
“I am delighted to join Bob, Andre and JJ in the Ring of Honor,” said Janice McNair. “It means so much for me to be inducted alongside three of my favorite Texans. I have cherished every day of match since 2002 and I am so proud of our team. It will be such a blessing to celebrate this special occasion with our incredible fans in November.”
The McNairs settled in Houston in 1960 and are known for their philanthropy, contributing more than $ 500 million to charitable causes, according to the Texans.
