The Texans of Houston will intremate Janice McNair, who co -founded the team with his late husband, in their ring of honor.

The ceremony will take place on November 2 at halftime of the Texans match against the Broncos of Denver.

She will become the fourth honored, according to her husband, Robert McNair, and the franchise icons Andre Johnson and JJ Watt.

Janice McNair keeps the title of senior chair with the team. The expansion of the Texans joined the NFL in 2002.

“My parents brought football back to Houston over 20 years ago and since then, my mother has gave our city so much to our organization,” said Cal McNair, president and CEO of the team. “There is no one more who deserves to be the next member of this illustrious group than Maman. She continues to be the biggest fan of our team, and I know how proud it would be to see her name join hers in the chevrons of the NRG stadium. I can’t wait to celebrate her introduction to the ring of honor this season.”

Johnson became the first member of the Ring of Honor in 2017. McNair, who died at 81 years old in 2018, was inducted the following year, with Watt added in 2023.

“I am delighted to join Bob, Andre and JJ in the Ring of Honor,” said Janice McNair. “It means so much for me to be inducted alongside three of my favorite Texans. I have cherished every day of match since 2002 and I am so proud of our team. It will be such a blessing to celebrate this special occasion with our incredible fans in November.”

The McNairs settled in Houston in 1960 and are known for their philanthropy, contributing more than $ 500 million to charitable causes, according to the Texans.

  1. About time honestly. She been there since day one and nobody really talks about her contributions. Real Houston legend right there.

  2. Wow this is so well deserved!! Mrs McNair has done so much for this organization and the comunity. Congrats to her and the whole McNair family!

  3. Look I got nothing against Mrs McNair personaly but the Ring of Honor should be for PLAYERS who actually performed on the field. This sets a weird precedent dont you think?

  4. People saying she didnt earn this need to do there research. Shes been co-owner for decades and helped keep this team in Houston when there was talk of moving. Show some respect seriously.

  5. I dont get it tho… what exactly did SHE do for the team? Her husband founded it not her. This seems like participation trophy mentality if you ask me.

  6. Actually if you look at other NFL teams, owners and key executives getting Ring of Honor recognition isnt that uncommon. The Cowboys did it, so did the Patriots. Its about recognizing people who shaped the franchises history not just playing ability.

  7. So we’re just putting everyone in the Ring of Honor now? What’s next, the hot dog vendor? The parking lot attendant? Where does it end people???

  8. For those who dont know – Janice McNair has been activley involved in team operations since 1999. She served on multiple NFL comittees and has been instrumental in community outreach programs across Houston. This isnt just ceremonial, shes earned this.

  9. Yeah sure lets honor management while the team cant even make it past the divisional round consistently lol. Maybe focus on getting better players first??

  10. Mixed feelings here. I mean yeah she’s been around forever and done alot behind the scenes but does that really warrant Ring of Honor? idk seems like their lowering the bar a bit

  11. Nothing says ‘we had a great season’ like honoring the owner’s wife. Im sure the fans are thrilled about this instead of, you know, actual playoff success.

  12. Congrats Mrs McNair!! Well deserved honor for everything you’ve done. True class act and Houston treasure.

  13. cant wait to see what groundbreaking achievement they honor next year… maybe the person who designed the logo? or whoever picks the gatorade flavors???

  14. Oh great, another billionaire getting honored while regular people struggle. Very inspirational stuff here. Really captures the spirit of football.
