The Vikings of Minnesota Vikings, JJ McCarthy, reintroduced journalists on Tuesday by launching passes on the training field and answering questions to the TCO Performance Center in Eagan, Minn.
Wearing a large smile that lasted ear, McCarthy was fast with an answer when he was asked if he was ready to start the 2025 season after missing his recruit campaign due to a torn menis with a right knee.
“I know I’m ready to start,” said McCarthy.
“Because all the work I put and just the confidence in my skills and my abilities and just being able to do my job, simplifying things at best my abilities every day and you just know one day, a game at a time. I have a huge coach staff, a huge group of guys around me on which I can look and they can look at me.”
McCarthy also addressed his changing body, which, according to him, is back up to 215 pounds after diving at High-180 when he could not train.
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell told journalists last week that McCarthy was an advantage to have learned team systems “in a classroom” to this point. McCarthy agreed on Tuesday with this evaluation.
“The whole process was unique. I did not have an injury like this that has been sitting for so long,” he said. “I was very grateful to the opportunity that I really had a head start on the mental side of the game. … Really on the same wavelength with (O’Connell) was great.”
McCarthy noted that even if he heard the constant chatter involving the potential addition of Aaron Rodgers, the 22 -year -old said he was just concentrated on the task to be accomplished.
“Obviously, (I) respects Aaron Rodgers, one of the biggest quarters to play the game, but everything I concentrated on was this daily task,” he said. “What I was doing here, what I was doing at home to make myself the best possible global player.”
The Vikings went from 2024, the quarter-Arrière leaving Sam Darnold, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks in a free agency after a surprise season in Minnesota.
The other quarter-backs of the Minnesota list are Sam Howell newly acquired, the Brett veteran Rypsum and the free agent not drafted Max Brosmer.
The Vikings selected McCarthy 10th in the general classification of 2024 draft after winning a national championship in Michigan. He underwent a knee operation in mid-August after playing in the opening of the pre-season of the Vikings.
