New Delhi: Virat Kohli found himself at the center of criticism after an unfortunate deadline involving Rajat Patidar during the Delhi capital (DC) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) match in IPL 2025.
The incident occurred in the fourth plus RCB rounds when Kohli launched a delivery of Mukesh Kumar to the middle of the counter. Patidar, eager to steal a simple quick, replied immediately but was returned too late by Kohli.

He picked up the ball properly and pulled a direct throw on the stumps, catching a just short patidar despite his desperate dive.
Patidar had to go back for 6 points on 6 balls, and the fans were quick to blame Kohli for confusion. Social media platforms were flooded with memes and reactions of anger, roasting of Kohli for the expensive mixture.
At that time, the RCB score was a disturbing 26/3 after 4 letters, with Kohli hitting on 8 out of 10 balls. He added additional pressure to the RCB sleeves, which already broke.
After the run-out, Kohli faced online criticism, fans blaming him for the unfortunate dismissal.
Earlier in the match, RCB had managed the ball. After winning the draw and chose to play, they managed to restrict the capitals of Delhi to 162/8.
