Vladimir Guerrero Jr. struck a three-point home run at the bottom of the eighth round and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 4-2 on Thursday evening.

The Homer of Guerrero in the rubber match of the three-game series came against Justin Slaten (0-2), who also suffered the defeat in 10th round on Wednesday.

Daulton Varsho struck a solo circuit for Toronto.

Jose Berrios de Toronto went around the simple at the top of the first and second heats, leaving the runners blocked at the second base each time. The first round ended when Varsho caught Wilyer’s flyball at the wall of the central field.

Tanner Houck from Boston worked around the simple in the second, third and fourth.

The Red Sox had their third single head on Rob Refsnyder’s online journey in the fifth round center. Refsnyder took third place when David Hamilton aligned a simple right. Hamilton then stole second. The bases were charged with two withdrawals when Rafael Devers walked on a 3-2 change which was down and outside. Alex Bregman fought a suspended cursor 0-1 in the corner of the left field for a double of two points. Bregman has extended his sequence for sure at 11 games.

Berrios withdrew the first two strikers from the seventh before Mason Fluhaty (2-0) replaced him.

Berrios granted two points, seven strokes and a walk while removing eight in 6 2/3 rounds.

Houck withdrew nine consecutive strikers before Varsho hit his second circuit in two nights with an explosion on the left on a high lead 1-1. He had struck a deep fault on the right on the previous ground. Houck struck a striker before finishing his seven heats, granting a point, four strokes and no walks with six stick withdrawals.

Slaten replaced Houck for the eighth round. Nathan Lukes pivoted a single out of one outing and took third place when Bo Bichette doubled on the right above the head of Abreu, who took a bad road to a ball that landed on the warning track. Guerrero followed with a circuit on the left on a 3-2 curve ball which turned above the plate.

Yimi Garcia launched a perfect ninth with two stick withdrawals to get his second stop.

Kristian Campbell of Boston was a late scratch because of the discomfort in his right rib cage.
