Bengaluru came to life on Wednesday while Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) returned home with their first IPL trophy. Thousands of fans have filled the streets, held on the roofs and gathered around Vidhana Soudha and Chinnaswamy Stadium just to see their favorite players – especially Virat Kohli, who has been part of the team for 18 years. The RCB team, led by Rajat Patidar, landed in the city around noon. They were welcomed at the airport by the Karnataka Vice-Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar. The team then went to meet the chief minister Siddaramaiah in Vidhana Soudha, where a short ceremony took place to honor their achievement.
“Virat Kohli gave his youth and his heart to RCB. Today, he made Karnataka Fier,” said Shivakumar. After meeting the CM, the players went on an open bus for a victory parade at the Chinnaswamy stadium. The fans have lined up along the route, many waving flags, holding posters and applauding loudly. Some have climbed trees, buses and walls for better view.
